2024 Chevy Traverse: What Buyers Need to Know
Built for everything from tough terrain to road trips to everyday errands, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is a can’t-miss midsized SUV.
If you’re looking for a reliable family vehicle or an SUV with lots of cargo space, the Traverse might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s available with room for seven or eight passengers and four trim levels to meet every driver’s needs: LS, LT, Z71, and RS.
There’s a lot to love about the 2024 Traverse; here are some of our favorite features!
Engine & Performance
The new Traverse is equipped with a 2.5L turbo engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. This combination provides 328 horsepower and 326 lb.-ft. of torque.
When equipped with the optional towing package, the Traverse has a max towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. In addition to impressive towing capacity, the towing package includes a heavy-duty cooling system, a 200-amp alternator, and a special “Hitch View” to the exterior camera system. This package is available on all models except the base LS trim.
The Z71 trim offers more standard off-road capabilities like a twin-clutch all-wheel drive system, off-road suspension, skid plate, hill descent control, and more.
Exterior and Interior Features
The Chevy Traverse has a rugged build while the upper door moldings, deep-tinted glass, and body-color body side moldings give it a distinct look. The 18-inch Grazen Metallic machined-faced aluminum wheels and 18-inch all-season blackwall tires complete the sporty appearance.
The AutoSense Power liftgate makes loading and unloading cargo easier by automatically opening the liftgate when the key fob is within three feet of the rear of the vehicle for more than three seconds.
Inside the Traverse, comfort and luxury reign supreme. Features include a huge 17.7-inch infotainment system touchscreen, 11-inch Driver Information Center, Wi-Fi® hotspot capability, SiriusXM® with 360L trial subscription, and more.
One of the most impressive features is the Vehicle Health Management System, an in-cabin system that warns of possible mechanical issues and other problems within your vehicle before they become larger issues.
Depending on the trim you choose, the following available interior features may be available:
- Wireless phone charging
- Bose® premium audio system
- 8-way power driver seat
- Heated steering wheel
- 120-volt power outlet
- Rear USB ports
- The Convenience Package, which offers heated driver and front passenger seats, a heated steering wheel, and a remote start.
The base LS trim has three rows of seating with room for up to eight. With all three rows upright, you’ll have 22.9 cubic feet of cargo space and additional storage space throughout the cabin, including the large center console. When you fold the third-row rear seats, you’ll have 57.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Safety Features
Chevrolet takes safety seriously. Driver-assistance features like pedestrian and bicyclist detection systems and automatic high-beam headlamps come standard on new Chevy models.
The 2024 Traverse includes the Driver Confidence Package, a safety package that is standard on AWD models and optional on FWD. Features in this package include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Enhanced Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- HD Surround Vision
- Rear Pedestrian Alert
- Traffic Sign Recognition
- Side Bicyclist Alert
Eight airbags, including frontal, head curtain, and seat-mounted side-impact airbags, are placed throughout the cabin along with the Driver Confidence Package.
